Benefits with the card

Below is a list of partners offering benefits to European Disability Card holders. Would you like to know which benefits they offer? Take a look on their website or contact them directly. We update the list regularly, but some partners may not yet be listed. Moreover, there are also organisations, institutions, etc. that do not use the European Disability Card, but still offer benefits or assistance to people with disabilities. So ask about it when you want to participate in an activity.

AcademieHSN
- Guidance and support will be provided from the academy to maximise the European Disability Card holder's experience. If necessary, individual guidance can be provided by appointment.
- The academy will do its utmost to remove all possible physical obstacles in their activities, especially in the academy.
- Each cardholder can count on free entry for his or her companion. The cardholder should only pay for his or her own admission.
- For our activities, (in consultation with the cardholder) the most suitable available space at that time will be made available.
- Finally, all possible efforts will be made to get persons with European Disability Cards to serve as volunteers and/or members of advisory boards.
- On request, you will receive the overview of services that can be counted on through the European Disability Card. If necessary, the academy of Hemiksem, Schelle and Niel will additionally try to find a tailor-made solution for EDC holders to enjoy the offer.

Municipality of Heist-op-den-Berg
Leisure card Heist-op-den-Berg services do not give discounts to people with a European Disability Card. This is because in our municipality we work with the Leisure Card. Persons with a Leisure Card receive an 80% discount on the leisure offer in Heist-op-den-Berg and a 60% discount on out-of-school childcare. Customized offer Tourism
- Organizes some tourist walks accessible to wheelchairs.
Sport in gamegd
- Twice a year, organizes a sporty G-3 day for people with a disability during the Easter holidays and the summer holidays. We tailor the offer as closely as possible to the persons who are registered. In addition, there is of course also the pleasure experience as an end in itself.
Cultural Center Zwaneberg
- Organizes the accessible culture project. The sick, the mentally vulnerable, people with disabilities, people in poverty or people without a network can attend a number of selected performances at half the price through accessible culture. They are accompanied by volunteers so they don't have to go alone.
- Provide audio description or sign language interpreter if feasible.
- Organizes with the 'free companion' card that people can bring a companion to a performance in the Cultural Center free of charge. This card is issued by NMBS and is for people who cannot use public transport independently.
Course center
- Organizes a trip in collaboration with the GAPH (municipal advisory board for people with disabilities) that is accessible to wheelchair users.
Academy for music, word and dance
- Organizes an individual trajectory for people with disabilities with an adapted examination programme. These students do sit together with other students when it comes to group lessons.
Speelpleinwerking
- Organizes an inclusive playground. Children with disabilities are welcome if the operation can bear this and in consultation with the parents. Trial days are done and the child receives tailor-made guidance where possible. A quiet room has been provided where it is possible for children with a disability (and other children) to relax. In addition, there is a room where it is possible to have nurses come to care for children with specific needs.

Het TheaterFestival

The TheatreFestival is a leading festival that annually opens the performing arts season with a public celebration, shaped by the presentation of a jury selection to the most interesting work of the past season. TheatreFestival promotes, challenges and stimulates the performing arts field. It lets talents shine, provides development opportunities, recognition and a basso continuo for the many creators and workers who shape our field. It keeps its finger on the pulse of trends in the arts field that shape cities as well as across national borders. It invites audiences as well as artists and cultural workers to in-depth critical reflection and exchange with its extensive reflection section and, where necessary, implements the knowledge gained in its operations. We put (ecological) sustainability first and values such as quality, multi-voicedness and inclusion form a common thread throughout our operation. A cardholder's companions are admitted free of charge. Upon notification of arrival, we provide priority access to the venue and adapted accompaniment. Some performances have surtitles.
